IPL - Intense Pulsed Light
- Suitable for lighter to medium skin tones.
- Effective for dark (almost black) and coarse hair.
- Provides relatively quick results.
- Although IPL has a high output and can cause more discomfort, Maris Gina uses machines with cooling functions to minimize pain
This method uses light that targets melanin pigment to heat hair follicles and reduce growth, delivering fast, visible results—especially for thick or dense hair. Please note: IPL is not suitable for tanned, sunburned, or pigmented areas (e.g., moles, freckles) and is less effective on white, blonde, or light-colored hair. For these hair types, SHR or HHR is recommended.
SHR - Super Hair Removal
- Suitable for all skin tones, hair colors, and hair types.
- Can be used on tanned or sunburned skin.
- Effective for light-colored, white, or blonde hair.
- Works well on fine hairs, such as peach fuzz.
- Uses lower intensity light with multiple passes, minimizing discomfort.
This method targets the "bulge area" responsible for hair growth, using accumulated heat to inhibit regeneration. It works independently of melanin, making it suitable for a wider range of skin tones and hair colors, including those not suitable for IPL. While SHR may offer slower results, it is a popular choice for clients with various hair types and those sensitive to pain.
HHR - Hybrid Hair Removal
- Suitable for all skin tones, hair colors, and hair types.
- Offers superior cooling, resulting in the least discomfort.
HHR combines the advantages of IPL and SHR hair removal techniques. It uses IPL’s direct light to target hair follicles and SHR’s thermal effect on the bulge area. This versatile method is effective for both coarse and fine hair, making it suitable for all skin and hair types.
